We give you something extra in every bottle of wine that has been properly aged and is ready to drink. Delicious small lots of California wines are the specialty of this boutique Rapazzini Winery. Chef Alex & Charlie take great pride in offering wines with one or 2 years of bottle age on them before we release them for sale to you. Check out the featured wines this month which are 10 year old Syrah and 5 year old Barbera. The moscato or muscat cannelli is the varietal that made wine tasting and wine consumption popular in the 1970s. Ours has a slight sweetness but a good backbone so the wine is tasty with meals not just as an appertif. Rapazzini Winery was opened in 1962 by Jon Rapazzini at the intersection of Highways 101 and 25 just south of Gilroy California. Winemaking is under the direction of Chef and owner Alex Larson who is 1982 graduate of the California Culinary Academy. His previous ristorante and bar, Sandrino's had a 3 1/2 star rating from the San Jose Mercury News and held the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. His partnership with brother Charlie Larson continues at Rapazzini Winery, where the brothers have worked since 1994. Charlie and Alex Larson purchased the winery in 2000. We continue to strive to make great wines at an affordable price that can be offered as older vintages than most wineries.

Behind the 40 foot long pounded copper bar you will find Adam Pagnagni. The main host is assisted by Butters his registered Airdale dog human. Crazy John Berger is another of the hosts who came along with the business. He also is quite active in retirement, RV-ing everywhere with his wife Phyliss and supporting charities as a former past exalted ruler of the Gilroy Elks. Locals Mike Whatley and Dawn Erojo keep the guests in wine at Rapazzini Winery and in food at our sister Company, The Garlic Shoppe. Joan and Joyce Balanesi are Charlie and Alex's aunts on their mom's side Sandra Darlene Balanesi Larson. Mom passed away in 1993. They are everywhere keeping us on the slow and steady course of continued growth and quality control. Their no longer secret codes are Your Favorite Aunt and Godmother and Your Favorite Aunt and Almost Godmother.Charles Larson Sr is living in historic downtown Gilroy. He still helps repair some of the machinery when he isnt on his walks of several miles a day or reading 2 books a day. He is the guy walking tall in cowboy boots and likes to chat. Aunt Joann Baker has passed on. Memorial services will be announced this week.
